Bringing home a German Shorthaired Pointer from Owl Ranch isn’t just adding a pet - it’s joining a family dedicated to preserving the heritage, instinct, and heart of this incredible breed. Our goal is to make the process transparent, personal, and exciting from start to finish. Here’s how it all works:

Step One: Connect with Us

Start by filling out our Puppy Inquiry Form (linked below). This helps us get to know you — your lifestyle, experience, and what you’re hoping for in a GSP. We take pride in matching each puppy to the right home, ensuring a great fit for both families and dogs. Once we receive your form, we’ll reach out personally to discuss upcoming litters, expected timelines, and answer any questions you may have about our process.

Step Two: Join the Waitlist

To officially join our waitlist, we require a $100 non-refundable (but transferable) deposit.
This secures your place in line for an upcoming litter and helps us plan responsibly for the number of families waiting.

If a breeding doesn’t take or timing doesn’t work out, your deposit can be transferred to a future litter — no need to reapply or lose your place.

When a breeding is confirmed, we’ll notify everyone on the list and begin sending updates as things progress.

Step Three: Litter Confirmation & Second Deposit

Once puppies arrive, we’ll contact you to confirm your placement within the litter.
At that time, an additional $400 non-refundable deposit is due within 48 hours to secure your puppy. This amount goes toward your final purchase price.

As the litter grows, we’ll provide regular updates and photos so you can follow along with their development.

Step Four: Puppy Pick-Up

Puppy pick-up typically happens between 8–9 weeks of age. At that time, you’ll receive your puppy’s vaccination and microchip records, health certificate, and go-home information. We offer shipping and ground transport options for families outside of Virginia (at the buyer’s expense) and can help coordinate safe travel arrangements. Before going home, each puppy also receives access to a ZigZag Puppy Training course, which includes either 30 days free or a 12-month premium plan for just $5 — a huge help during those crucial first months of development.

When you bring home an Owl Ranch puppy, you’re part of the family for life. We love keeping in touch, offering support, and watching our pups grow into confident, capable companions.
